Early
last year, Google rolled out a big hit on how it rate and target
quality search result. The change in algorithm mainly target content
farm sites, which starts in the US, and later spread all over the world.
Panda or Farmer Update is a major algorithmic change by Google, which
rain down duplicate content websites to deliver good and quality content
to its searchers.
It has been said that Google is
determining how many content are above the fold to rank a website. This
is to get rid of sites that paste adverts all over the places, and sites
that offer low quality contents. So make sure to remove any
advertisement or images above your post to allow enough content to be
shown above fold.
"Above the fold means, the area that is visible to visitors before scrolling down the page on your blog"
With the Panda hit, so many websites and
blogs were dropped in ranking because of this hit. Several methods used
in gaining high ranking are now changing around. For example, back
linking have taken a new twist. If the site with most number of
backlinks to your website has been blacklisted and penalized by Google,
then your website or blog may also be a victim of it. So in one word, do
not just get any link from just any website.
Tips to Help Your Blog Survive Google’s Panda Hit
Below I will be sharing 10 tips to follow so that you can be ahead of any updates to page ranking by Google. With the following SEO tips, you can be sure to meet up with the current Panda hit by Google.
1. Frequent Post Update
Google loves fresh and quality contents. Make sure you are updating your blog on a frequent basis. In fact, I have noticed that recently posted articles are getting higher ranking on Google
search. This is because Google believes fresh content will be more
useful to searchers than a post dated 1 or 2 years back. Also be
consistent with your update to keep human visitors going.
2. Quality Contents is a Goldmine
Enough relevant and quality contents on
your site can mean a lot. I can not stress this enough. Avoid duplicate
content and if you must copy or use PLR articles, make sure it is
written upto 70% to produce a unique and quality article.
3. Enough Content Above the Fold
"Above the fold means, the area that is visible to visitors before scrolling down the page on your blog"
4.Avoid Excessive Ads
One of the important things to note is
excessive ads on your pages. Make sure you minimize the amount of ads on
your site and do not let ads interfere with your blog contents. Plenty
of ads on a page can send a signal to Panda that your site is a
low-quality site and that it was made for advertising. In my opinion, 5
ads block in the content area is enough for a page if you are
considering Panda hit.
5. Quality Backlinks
Another factor that get your site rank
higher is backlinks. But with the Farmer update, Google may penalize any
site that has a quite number of links from a low-quality or penalized
site that is linking back to your site. So only get backlinks from
trusted, high-quality and authoritative sites.
6. Blog Load Time Speed
It is very clear that this factor
contribute a lot to how Google rank websites. The more faster your site
loads, the higher it ranks in Google search. So make sure your site load
speed is higher. You can use Google’s Load Speed tool to check how your blog is doing.
7. Using Social Media
To create more engaging environment for your blog, make use of social media websites like Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, etc. Do not over-look the power of these sites.
8. Content Authorship
It is very clear that to combat
duplicate or farmer website, Google is doing a really good work via
Panda or Farmer Update. Google is trying to rain-down duplicate content
sites so as to provide good quality search result to its users. But how
can Google determines who owns the original article? That is when Google
introduces Content Authorship. Authorship is a more of complex
‘gibberish’ but you can read more on it by Googling it. It all bore down
to connecting your blog’s Author Profile to your Google+ Profile and your Google Profile back to your blog’s
Author Profile. Through this, whenever you post an article, Google
recognizes you as the original writer and you also show beside the post
on search results. This is important so that your content copiers will
not have upper hand over you in search result.
9. Avoid Duplicated Contents
Following the update in algorithm, Google frown deeply on farmer sites, so stay away from it. Do not copy any other articles to your blog without editing and rewriting upto 70% to make it unique and quality. Before allowing Guest Post on your blog, also make sure the writer understands that the content should not be posted anywhere else on the internet.
10. Site Readability
This is very simple, make your site
readable by your human visitors. Do not litter your posts all over,
arrange them in a good and neat manner, avoid too many ads, use images,
videos, white-colored background, etc. This is important to your site
visitor. Remember, it’s all about your visitor and not you.
